Larry and I are back in Texas—and we’ll be here for the rest of the year. Phew!
But lots of travel means there’s lots to digest. So now I’m working through a great big pile of photos, notes, and article ideas.

A pair of dates. It’s one of the simplest things on a gravestone, but it can actually tell us a lot about changing attitudes toward time, memory, and mortality.
Why might a headstone have two completely different dates?
Where might the year 1911 be written as the year 5671 instead?

From obelisks and sphinxes to lotus blossoms and ankhs, the influence of ancient Egypt is all around us—even on America’s dollar bill!
Join me for a photo-filled adventure exploring the waves of “Egyptomania” that swept the Western world, from Napoleon’s expedition to Hollywood’s Golden Age.
Along the way, we’ll discover how ancient Egyptian art, architecture, and beliefs continue to shape our monuments, cemeteries, and culture today.
And yes... there will even be Egyptian-themed snacks! 😄
