Crossing the Atlantic
Happy New Year!
In case you’re new here, my name is Tui Snider and you signed up for my newsletter — which is a twice-monthly update on my world travels and historic cemetery research. (If this ain’t your cup of tea, there’s an unsubscribe button at the bottom of this email.)
Although I’m currently crossing the Atlantic, here’s a photo from my recent trip to Norway, where Larry and I enjoyed wandering snowy streets beneath the peculiar blue of the Polar Night.
In fact, the photo below was taken shortly after noon!

1. I’m a Cover Girl - sort of…
The other day I told my husband, Larry, “Did you know you married a cover girl?”
In response to his confused expression, I explained that one of my photos graces the cover of this month’s issue of American Cemetery and Cremation Magazine.
The image is from my article “The Mona Lisa of Cemetery Angels,” and reveals the history behind one of the most replicated angel statues you will find in burial grounds all over the world. (The article also delves into the lurid tale behind an infamous American copy found in St. Louis.)
In addition, if you’d like to see a few replicas of Monteverde’s Resurrection Angel that I’ve come across in my travels, check out my post: “Monteverde Angels - from Texas to Indonesia.”
As for the Italian original, I’ve been lucky enough to see it twice now, most recently while working as as cemetery symbolism guide for Lisa’s Gryphon Art Tours.
News Flash: Lisa booked me to be a cemetery symbolism guide for another art tour trip in 2025 - this time we will explore cemeteries and catacombs of Rome and surrounding areas. Want to join us? It’s gonna be fun!
2. I Ate Rudolph! (Don’t tell my grandkids)
It started innocently enough. While exploring the array of Norwegian delicacies aboard the Hurtigruten Coastal Ferry, a tray of smoked reindeer cheese caught my eye.
Wait? People actually milk reindeer?
From there, it escalated… Read more at: I ate Rudolph - and she was delicious!
3. Norway’s Enchanting Northern Lights
Our main objective for visiting Norway during winter was so Larry could finally see the Northern Lights. We were not disappointed!

4. What’s next?
That’s all for now! My husband and I are currently sailing around the world. I’ll pop into your inbox every couple of weeks with updates as we go.
